Cong attends Gupkar meet, to jointly fight J&K DDC polls | India News

SRINAGAR: Congress on Friday attended its first meeting of the newly formed People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) in J&K, sealing its participation in the non-BJP caucus after being seemingly cagey about committing itself to partnering Farooq Abdullah’s National Conference and Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP in the first District Development Council polls.
PCC office-bearer Ghulam Nabi Monga’s participation in the talks at Mehbooba’s house came after J&K Congress chief Ghulam Mir twice stayed away from meetings citing health reasons. “We stand by the alliance and want J&K’s special status to be restored without any hiccups,” Monga said.
