People’s Alliance to participate in J&K DDC elections | India News

NEW DELHI: People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, an amalgam of mainstream political parties of J&K, on Saturday annnounced that they would be participating in the upcoming district development council (DDC) elections scheduled to take place on November 28.
This would be the first polling exercise in Jammu and Kashmir since it became a Union territory last year. The state would see 280 newly delimited constituencies across 20 districts going to polls in eight phases to elect 14 representatives each to their inaugural district development councils (DDC).
Elections to all vacant posts in panchayats and urban local bodies will be held simultaneously during the almost month-long schedule that runs till December 22, J&K election commissioner KK Sharma announced in Jammu on Wednesday.
